summer exercises

Summer’s here in full swing. If you haven’t already started working on that “summer bod”, that’s not a problem! While it’s great to hear about our Logan chiropractic patients getting active, if you spent a lot of time indoors this last winter (which wouldn’t be a surprise with how cold it was!), overexercising too quickly might actually be a problem!

If you’re experiencing some back pain this summer, you’ll want to know exercises to take advantage of that will help your situation. What are those, exactly?

Walking

There are many benefits to adding a few more steps to your schedule each day. In fact, an article by Simply Most said that walking just 20 minutes each day will help you lose a few pounds, which could have been gained over the winter, and also give you an increased energy and an improved memory. On top of that, it’ll make you happier (even though you may not have been happy to start walking in the first place).

Biking

Biking is a great way to exercise without placing a lot of strain on your back or joints. It’s also a great excuse to get outside and experience nature! There are some incredible bike trails that provide beautiful views you never would have seen if you didn’t take your bike out. Going with your family makes it even better.

Stretching

We know this seems like a simple thing, but simple stretching has some great health benefits. If you feel really adventurous, why not join a yoga class? Fitt.co has provided a list of 17 outdoor yoga classes that are perfect for anyone who wants to enjoy yoga in a new location.

Indoor Exercises

On a rainy day, you can always go to the local gym and benefit from weightlifting, running on the treadmill, or climbing steps! For low-impact exercises, the elliptical, stationary bike, and pool are great options! So, if the weather isn’t cooperating with your outdoor exercise plans, don’t fret!

Again, ease into some of these exercises so you don’t hurt yourself. Done right, though, you will have a fun summer and have new, exciting experiences. If you are dealing with some back pain this summer, let us know! Click here to read about our chiropractic services.
