If you suffer from a chronic pain condition, making an appointment with a chiropractor is an effective and non-invasive treatment option for you.
Millions of people are drawn to chiropractic care because of it’s natural, holistic approach—but most importantly, for the results they experience.
Here are just a few of the findings from recent years confirming the observed health benefits of chiropractic care.
#1 – Tension and migraine headaches
Headaches are one of the most common conditions treated by chiropractors. In fact, there are over 230 peer-reviewed studies confirming the ability chiropractics has to help prevent, cure, and ease the burden of headaches and migraines. Chiropractic care is especially beneficial because it is a natural way to find headache relief as opposed to the risks involved in taking prescription drugs long-term.
#2 – Sciatica
The European Spine Journal recently conducted a clinical trial where they discovered chiropractic adjustments resulted in a 72% success rate in sciatica related symptoms. This compared to a 20% success rate with physical therapy treatment and a 50% success rate with corticosteroid injections.
#3 – Blood pressure
In 2007, a team of experts on hypertension published a study in the Human Journal of Hypertension. They found that just one upper cervical chiropractic adjustment had the same effect on a patient as two commonly used drugs used to lower blood pressure. Its effects lasted for more than six months!
#4 – Lower back and neck pain
In 2003, a study involving 183 patients suffering from neck pain was published in the British Medical Journal. After a 52 week period, the clinical outcome measured that chiropractic adjustments resulted in a faster recovery compared to general practitioner care. All for one-third of the cost comparatively.
Another study published in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics found that patients who were treated by a chiropractor for chronic lower back pain showed greater improvement one month following treatment compared to patients treated by family physicians. Of those chiropractic patients, 56% reported their lower back pain was better or much better compared to just 13% of family physician patients.
#5 – Surgery Prevention
The Journal of the American Medical Association recently published guidelines suggesting that patients suffering from lower back pain should try chiropractic care prior to choosing surgery.
#6 – Neurological conditions
There’s evidence to support that chiropractic treatment can help correct vertebral subluxation that contributes to seizures and epilepsy—especially in children.
#7 – Colic, ear infections, and acid reflux in children
In 2011, Explore published a systematic review of over 26 research articles. They found that chiropractic adjustment significantly helped reduce colic symptoms.
In addition, several case studies document near or complete relief from ear infections or acid reflux in children after just four visits or three months of chiropractic care.
#8 – Athletic performance
Did you know that over 50% of NFL teams have a chiropractor on staff? For years, many professional athletes have regularly received chiropractic care.
Chiropractic care can help with many pain-based conditions, improve mobility and range of motion, reduce inflammation and recovery time, and improve physical performance. Chiropractic care can also be used to treat a variety of sports injuries like sprains, strains, chronic pain, tendonitis, and more.
#9 – Scoliosis
It’s been shown that when coupled with muscular rehabilitation techniques, it’s possible for specific chiropractic adjustments to prevent the progression of scoliosis.
The Clear Institute has developed a model for treating scoliosis and reports that it’s possible to effectively manage this condition without risky surgeries or restrictive braces.
#10 – Adhesive capsulitis (“Frozen shoulder”)
In 2017, a clinical trial was published involving 50 patients suffering from frozen shoulder. The purpose was to see how they responded to chiropractic care. The results? 16 patients recovered completely, 25 showed 75-90% improvement, 8 showed 50-75% improvement, and 1 showed 0-50% improvement.
Prior to chiropractic treatment, the patients reported a median pain score of 9 on a 0-10 scale. After treatment, the median score dropped to 2.
